Position

Season Dancer Season Dancers will join Seoul Metropolitan Ballet as core members of the company, performing in productions throughout the season.
Key Responsibilities
  • Season Dancers are expected to participate in all productions during the contract period, including understudy assignments. The company presents approximately 5 to 10 productions each year.
    • Participation in certain productions may vary depending on casting decisions.
  • Season Dancers are required to attend regular company classes, workshops, and other training programs designed to further develop their artistic and technical development.
  • In addition to season productions, Season Dancers may also participate in other Seoul Metropolitan Ballet projects and initiatives, including domestic and international exchange programs.
Contract Type Season dancers will be engaged under a performance service contract covering all productions during the contract period.
Number of Positions Up to 20 dancers will be selected.
  • The final number of selected dancers may vary depending on the audition results.
Compensation Rehearsal and performance fees will be provided for each production.

  • Applicants who participated in Seoul Metropolitan Ballet productions during the 2025-2026 season will be exempt from the first-round audition.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be professional dancers aged 18 or older. born in or before 2008
  • Female applicants must be able to perform pointe work.
  • Applicants must be available to participate in all Seoul Metropolitan Ballet productions and other company activities throughout the contract period.

Information for Foreign Nationals and Overseas Applicants

  1. Applicants currently affiliated with an overseas dance company or enrolled in an educational institution outside Korea may complete the first-round audition by video, regardless of nationality.
    Official documentation confirming employment or enrollment as of July 2026 must be submitted.
  2. The following support will be provided to selected dancers who are not Korean nationals.
    • E-6 Visa

      : If a visa is required to work in Korea, Seoul Metropolitan Ballet will provide assistance with the E-6 visa application process.

      Please note that visa approval and processing are subject to review by the relevant Korean authorities. Final visa issuance remains the responsibility of the relevant authorities.
    • Temporary Accommodation

      : Temporary accommodation will be provided for up to 10 days following arrival in Korea to allow time for securing long-term housing.

  • The above support will be provided only after the selected dancer has signed a contract with Seoul Metropolitan Ballet. All expenses related to the audition are the sole responsibility of the applicant.

  • The audition process and schedule are subject to change. Any updates will be announced through the application portal.
  • Dancers who participated in Seoul Metropolitan Ballet productions during the 2025-2026 season are exempt from the first-round audition. However, they must still submit an application during the designated application period.
  • Applications must be submitted by 5:00 PM (KST) on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. After the deadline, applications cannot be edited or supplemented. Applicants are responsible for any disadvantages resulting from incomplete, inaccurate, or incorrect information provided in their application.
  • Application Categories
    • General Application : Applicants residing in Korea, regardless of nationality, who will participate in the first-round in-person audition.
    • Video-Substitution Review Application : Applicants who will complete the first-round audition by video submission. This category is available only to applicants, regardless of nationality, who are currently affiliated with a dance company, organization, or educational institution outside the Republic of Korea.
  • Applicants applying through the Video Audition category must submit official documentation confirming their affiliation with a company, organization, or educational institution as of July 2026. Applications without the required supporting documents will not be eligible for video evaluation.
  • Applicants requesting to substitute a video submission for the first-round practical audition must submit their video to smb@sejongpac.or.kr by 5:00 p.m. KST on Thursday, August 6. If the video is incomplete or not submitted by the deadline, the applicant will not be eligible for video screening.

  • Applicants may freely choose the content of each video. Videos should, in principle, have been recorded within three months of the application submission date.
  • Each video must feature the applicant performing solo. The applicant's full body must remain clearly visible throughout the recording. Videos should be filmed from a fixed angle that allows the audition panel to evaluate technique, alignment, musicality, and quality of movement.
  • Only one classical ballet video and one contemporary ballet video may be submitted.
  • All applicants who pass the first-round audition must attend the second-round audition in person.
  • Audition attire, preparation requirements, and detailed instructions will be provided separately to eligible applicants.
  • Successful applicants at each stage will be notified individually.
  • Audition schedules cannot be changed due to personal circumstances.
  • Audition scores and panel comments will not be disclosed.
  • Applicants must present a valid photo ID for identity verification on the day of the audition.
  • Individual practice studios and parking will not be provided. Shared warm-up studios and dressing rooms will be available.
  • Final selected dancers will attend individual contract meetings and sign their contracts between September 16-18, 2026 schedule subject to change, before joining company rehearsals beginning September 28, 2026.
